Opening of Round 8 starts with one minute silence for the memory of Hayri Ozbilen, former President of Turkish Chess Federation .
Before the last round, GM Mustafa Yilmaz becomes the champion of the 12th International Istanbul Chess Festival with 8 out of 8 points. At the round 8, he wins versus Melih Yurtseven, sustaining the advantage obtained at the game openinig.

At board 2, FM Hakan Erdogan - Melih Kaan Can game, black sacrifices quality and makes pressure on the opponents king which is not castled. He manages to win the game with this pressure.
